| Prime Minister Samir Rifai on Tuesday said partnership between the public and private sector has become a pressing demand. He added that the partnership is needed now more than ever because of the repercussions of the global financial downturn and challenges of the budget. At a meeting with chairman and members of board of Jordan Businessmen Association (JBA), Rifai said the government is committed to supporting the private sector and providing it with the needed facilitation to help it carry out its role in assisting the national economy. "Priority in executing the Kingdom's mega projects would be given to the private sector," Rifai said, adding that his government will consider ways to guarantee the contribution of Jordanian investors in carrying out such projects with their international counterparts. The private sector, he said, plays a key role in providing government the require support to implement the royal directives to enhance business and investment climate in Jordan as well as fighting poverty and unemployment. On his part, president of the JBA Hamdi Tabba said the private sector is keen to support the government in implementing the ambitious program, indicated by the letter of designation. He briefed Rifai on the achievements of the association as well as challenges in front of contributing to the comprehensive economic development. |
